Cake Craziness

And people think I'm weird for not eating cake. Now the true oddness of cake design comes out.

Back in the Swing of Things?

While I was off for a few days this week, I realized that I hadn't taken an actual vacation in nearly two years. That's kinda sad. I've gone away for weekends and taken days off from work for religious holidays, but as far as actually taking days off to do something... it has been since my last staycation, which was in August of 2006. Sigh. So now I'm back at work, wishing that I had more time off. But at least I got some cute pictures out of the deal.

Talk Talk

I've been on an interviewing kick lately. I got a chance to talk to Elisabeth Moss (aka the adorable Peggy Draper on my current favorite show Mad Men). She was a bit short on time because she's busy being awesome and coping with like taking over Sterling Cooper or whatever. But still a fun, fun read.

Then I got to talk to Enrico Colantoni, who swore that he remembered me from the couple times I stalked/talked to him when I worked at TV Guide. He was so, so much fun. He gave me parenting advice, asked about my life. Seriously, one of the most incredible people ever. THe interview is long, but the person I forced to edit it for me swears it is funny.

I also talked to Shane Sparks, that will get posted tomorrow. He was laid back and chill. I don't think i can dance, but me and Mindy want to start a dance crew. So look for that at www.twop.com. And like read other stuff, like my attempts at poetry and much, much more.

Some Trends Should Stay Dead

So Hypercolor (a trend in the late '80s or early '90s... sometime when I was in high school) is making a comeback, though now they are classier and called Thermochromatic shirts. Um... here's the big problem with this... that NO ONE apparently remembers or has chosen to ignore. If you sweat, you have big pit stains and other parts of your back that have change to the lighter color so everyone, yes, everyone can see your persperation problems. I had a friend who used to have a greenish colored shirt that would turn white in the heat. Cool, right? And then he'd have like perma circles of white under his arms and it was just icky. I mean, I think I wore the hot pink one that I had once before realizing that if I had a backpack on I'd have a big white spot in the middle of my back when I took it off and everyone would think I was all gross. All I'm saying is BAD, BAD idea. Think twice before buying one.

Tough Cookie

I clearly have a very difficult and demanding job since this was pretty all I have to show for my morning efforts. (Um... if my boss is reading, I swear I did some other "behind the scenes" things in addition to just writing this one little post). Anyway, Colbert vs. Cookie Monster. Best thing ever. Especially if you have a kid and have been subjected to the recent "let's eat our fruit and vegetables" mantra they have been force-feeding down viewers throats recently on Sesame Street.

Does Anyone Have $100,000 I Can Have?

I need one of these ginormous new 108 inch LCD TV's. Leaving aside the fact that it probably wouldn't fit in my living room, it is bigger than me and that's just plain awesome. Not quite as awesome as Barney's blinding 300 inch TV on How I Met Your Mother, but certainly a step in the right direction. Obviously I don't have the expendable income to just buy this massive TV nor can I even fathom how this 8 foot long and four foot high would fit through my door (it is certainly larger than my own personal car), but just knowing that this is out there gives me hope that some day in the future, when I win the lotto, I can have an SUV-sized TV of my very own upon which I can watch episodes of crappy reality shows.

So Very Busy

I've been trying hard to get settled in over at Television Without Pity. It is a great place to write for and a great place to work. Though it has been hard getting back up to speed on all my TV watching. My DVR is ready to explode. Anyway, I've been writing a lot of TV related commentary in our Telefile. I've also been doing some DVD reviews in our DVDs Unwrapped area. And I've also recently written a Summer Movie Preview, a gallery of why Big Brother sucked this season and another gallery about the overly soapy drama on Ugly Betty. See? They are totally keeping me on my toes over here. Plus, I get to read and edit a large hunk of the recaps/weecaps and reviews on our site, so that is also keeping me out of trouble. Come visit. See our pretty new look. Have some fun. Call me... whatever.
